Hi Folks.
I have had a little trawl around and suspect I know the answer to the question I am abo[/CENTER]ut to ask, but will go ahead anyway and likely suffer the flames associated with n00b questions
I'm in the States and have brought with me an ageing Sony DAV S550
complete with original speakers.
I have recently acquired a Sony DAV-DZ170
The latter unit came without a set of speakers, so I am pondering the use of my existing speaker set from the 550. The prognosis isn't great:
The amp on the newer system appears to be capable of much more grunt, and there's a small impedance difference on the speakers...
I seek your council: what are the risks of using the 550 speaker set with the DAV-DZ170.
Thanks chaps
Caveats: I'm aware the speaker cable connectors are different. This is for casual watching only; quality is not much of an issue. I'm more interested in safety/potential for blowing up amps etc.
