Impedance selector confusion

On the back of my receiver is an impedance selector with the following options literally written like the following:

Speaker set A or B: 4ohms min/speaker

Speaker set A + B: 8 ohms min/speaker

Speaker set A or B: 6 ohms min/speaker

The nominal impedance for my speakers is 8 ohms each. I'm a little confused about which to select, given the "or" and "+".

Seems like the only way to accomplish the 8 ohm/speaker objective is to plug one speaker into a left or right channel for set A, and the other speaker into a left or right channel on set B?

Since your speakers aren't 4 ohm speakers, you should set it to 6 ohms minimum. That will cover your 8 ohm speakers just fine.

If you had two PAIRS of speakers (4 speakers total) and ran them all at the same time, you would need 8 ohm speakers for all four speakers, but you only have one pair (2) speakers.

So, set it to the higher impedance and you are good to go.

Awesome! Thanks. That's actually what I have it set at, luckily. I was dreading having to pull everything out and mess with it.
