i dont know if someone already posted about this or not, but i received this item from last month's giveaway about a week ago. I had to move my whole computer next to my receiver so i could hook it up, but that ended up not being such a bad thing.
I was very impressed with the sound quality, i think it sounds better this way than playing redbook cd's on my dvd player.
the only thing that kind of bugs me is the really slight hum. Whenever there is audio, you can hear a hum come on about half a second before the audio comes in, and then it goes away about a half second after the audio ends. It is extremely quiet, but when im sittin in complete silence and i empty my recycle bin or something, i can hear the faint hum. If you are playing music its not noticeable at all. I dont think i would have ever noticed, if i used my computer speakers for non music applications. but i havent gotten around to hooking up my computer speakers yet.
but id recommend this to anyone. Its definately worth the 40 bucks. Comes with the gadget, an intervideo windvd software package, with dts decoder, so you can play and hear dts on yoru computer, as well as a 3 foot optical cable.
music quality is pretty amazing. I used to just have an analog splitter connected to my semidecent quality sound card. And it worked but was nothing close to the quality of this.
