Do you love the IMAX theater experience when viewing the latest Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, and JJ Abrams movie? Well now you can take that experience home with IMAX Private Theater.

With custom speakers, a system that does daily speaker calibrations, a floor to ceiling, wall to wall curved screen, and dual 4k projectors, this is the theater of your dreams. Right now, IMAX is waiting to start designing your Private Theater.

Ya forgot, you better have a dedicated room ( $$$$) for this or your spending money without getting the full potential.

Ok, that has ultimate drool factor all over it. But let's be honest, you need someone who has the size of a small house just for the theater. Three rows high by 10 seats in the first row alone... that is probably 15 feet from the screen?! And it has the real theater speakers in the setup. That's seriously intense. They also have Theo Kalomirakis, the golden Greek and god-father of home theater design in the video!

While we are dreaming big, why not throw in your own private Dolby Atmos sound system as well? and also a harem with of the all the contestants from the Miss America pageant? and a space shuttle with launch pad in your backyard complete with mission control in your basement?

My dreams keep getting better even if my ability to make them a reality does not.

The problem is at you going to get a fake-max screen size and price of EACH of these 4k projectors are comparable to new house.
I would get approx 15 k dedicated theater room could get you 99.9% of that experience with "humble" 1080p projector

I'd budget more like $15-20K, or a bit more depending on speaker choices and channel count for sound alone, 8-15K for picture, and bring the room itself in at 40K not counting special acoustic isolation, assuming you hired contractors and didn't just grab your own hammer and go nuts. For 99.9% of the home-IMAX experience you'd probably want to hit just over 100K including modest decor and acoustic treatment.

But I totally agree with your point. Ditch the projectors, and reallocate the bucks and get nearly the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

The puzzling part of this is, dedicated HT rooms of any kind make up a fraction of a percent of the total HT market right now, and the extreme high end is a fraction of that, so where's the market for this?
