As many folks around here know. I"m getting hitched on Saturday. We're taking a honeymoon to NYC where my wife will be happily treated to a few Broadway shows(it's her obsession like this place is mine).

I've been there before and I know there is supposed to be an amazing pizza place in Penn station with slices the size of your arm.

Also there's a bakery in little italy that's supposed to have amazing canolli's.

Any other must eat places while there?

New York is home to the best seafood in the world. See? There ya go! Right there, Red Lobster.

The meeting isn't until three, but I always like to come a little early. This is where I do my haunts. Oh, look! [points to a Sbarro's] My favorite New York pizza place. I'm going to go get me a New York slice!

Is the soup Nazi's place still open? If so, you should check it out. We couldn't find the last time I was in NY.

LOL. I forget where that was. I ended up eating at a pizza place instead in NY last time I was there. I love Pizza and it's hard to find real pies in North Texas.

But I need to mix it up for my wife. I'm sure she'll want some variety.

Ok I used to live in the city. I would recommend going to St Marks pizza for slices(IMO the best) I would go to Carmines on 47th for family style Italian. I would go to Mott st for Chinese as most ALL of them are great. I would for sure go to Katz'z deli for the BEST hot pastrami sandwhich in the world. Also if you like Indian foor Balducci's is a NYC chain for indian and it is amazing (Chicken Korma baby)....There are so many places to eat that I am drawing a blank but if you hit up these places you will be very excited.....

I'm glad I caught this just in time... I've been away on vacation for a few weeks!

Some key questions:

Are you looking to take her out to a really nice dinner (you should, she's your wife :)) or are you looking more to give her an experience of as much food as possible?

What types of food must you have?

What is your total food budget?

Where are you staying?

Once I have an idea of these, I can help you out with some specific recommendations.

I want to taker her to a really nice dinner at least once.

I must have some Pizza at some point. I'd love to be adventurous with chinese or indian maybe. I really love Thai food too.

I prefer no BBQ or Steak(i'm from Texas we have plenty of that here.)

I'm gonna say 200 to 300 for a week. Our hotel has a continental breakfast so i'm covered on that. We are staying in Newark and will be training in. We both love italian food as it's the best cuisine in the world according to my taste buds. Though Thai is very close.

For a nice (ok, REALLY nice) dinner, Daniel is a place that I would love to try. :D

I am sure it quite pricey, but it would be an experience...

I haven't been there, but have followed Daniel Boulud and he is passionate about food!

Thats one of the best in the city, but for a pice fix 5 course tasting menu look to drop around $300 per person (including wine).

It's an amazing restaurant with ridiculous food, but you have to spend the cash. I took my wife there and we spent close to $500 on what was a memorable dinner.

I lived, and work in NYC, so I can recommend a ton of great places. I also saw that your staying in Newark so your going to PATH it in then to WTC (World Trade Center). Newark has some very good Brazilian/Portuguese restaurants. If you are interested I can give you a few places.

In NYC if you are looking for some really great pizza, I would recommend Adrienne's Pizzabar on Stone St. Great pizza and its downtown so its easy walking distance from the WTC PATH.

NYC also has some of the best Italian restaurants outside of Italy. The price range varies from a few bucks to a few hundred bucks. Babbo and Lupa (Mario Batali Restaurants) are great. Babbo is more expensive but well worth it but you need to make reservations ahead of time.

PM me if you would like me to give you a few more recommendations.

Absolutly its amazing, and for some people certainly worth every penny. If your a foodie, then it has to be on your list of places to eat.

Dunno about "great" but how about tasty, fun, atmospheric, and reasonable.

Alice's Tea Cup - The wife loves this and I kinda like it too, in it's own way. It is a lot of fun and thee food is great. We like going here after visiting the NY Museum of Natural History. It's within walking distance.

I'd recommend this for a lunch/brunch type meal and the quantities will/should suffice all but the most hearty of appetites.

As for plays, we've seen Phantom of the Opera three times and will probably see it again.
