I've been looking for a used subwoofer for over 3 weeks now, i only have a budget of $100 max, and the used market for HT subwoofers is even worse than loudspeakers believe it or not, our used market is flooded with automotive audio and cheap old HT in a box systems, among those i've come across i few decent looking ones

This first one is a JBL venue SB, model was not listed but i asked the seller already $80

a 10" JBL sub, again no model listed but i've asked the seller $140 (i'd have to negotiate with the seller)

pure acoustics Xp10-150, having a hard time finding info about it $100

this guy who would do a 6.5" jbl cinema 510 sub for 70 bucks, but vanished from the surface of the planet for the last week or so

and lastly, a 8" pionner HTP 702 SW, $85

anytning that strikes home among these?
these might look bad for 100 bucks, but as a reminder, i'm in brazil, where eletronics generally get 60% import taxes.
there are a bunch of muteki systems going for some crazy high prices, even tho they are apparently not great, tho, some of the ones which the receiver went bad, or are missing some speakers go for really cheap, like 2 sony sa-wp16s, for 50 bucks, they are generally considered a stay away tho, and the location of those two subs was not that great, so.
Here asking for comprehension and help

I think the jbl subs would probably be your best bet, but would be very helpful to have a little more info on both. The first one looks in decent shape, but no clue how big it is. Looks like they have a 10" and a 12" in that model.

The 12 looks like a halfway decent subwoofer. Not quite a true sub, but gets down into the 20s. The 10 doesn't look terrible either, and would definitely be better than no sub at all.

Can't say anything about the other JBL. Not enough to go on. Never heard of Pure Acoustics and would pass on the other 2.

The first one is a venue sub 10, yes, as for the 140$ JBL down firing, that's out of the question, shipping to expensive

I vote for the venue then. It's a small-ish sub, but it likely plays well within its band. $80 isn't ridiculous either, provided everything works.

Well, it makes sense, it seems like it was imported from the US, since the seller is including a step down power converter

supposedly at least, if i hear them for a while, and go back to tv speakers, yeah, night and day, but it doesn't wow me just from turning them on and putting some music, it might be my room, but it doesn't seem the worst, got some curtains behind me, and open wall on one side, and a wall with some paitings and a sofa on the other, so the worst ofender is probly the floor, still, yes, it's very nice of him to land me all this stuff, and generally, we've been just talking more frequently, all togheter, might be cause i got a phone after being phoneless for 3 years or so, or both

also, doing stuff like mowing the grass, or having someone take out the garbage isn't stuff we do here, for mowing teh grass we usually pay contractors, and taking out the garbage is as simple as getting the single bag and putting on the bin outisde, so

It's just a figure of speech, lol. Looks like you got it tho...

Those speakers you have now are made to be crossed over to a subwoofer and don't play very deep, if I recall correctly. A sub should help a lot. How big is the room you're using it in?

well, this big,

iirc, i sit 2.5 meters from the center, the image might make it feel a bit bigger, but it doesn't look that different from when i look at it with my new glasses, i also put my surrounds higher, andi put the L/R further apart from each other when i can
(edit: the center is also one of those JBLs now)

also, i felt like it could be figure of speech, but american movies make it seem like that's something common to do as a favor or pocket money

Okay, I remember your room now! It's a nice, neat little room. That little sub might just do okay for you. You should be covered for most any music and you might get a little rumble from action scenes in movies. The real trick with subwoofers is finding the best spot for them. If you're sitting in a null you might have to move it around some to find a good spot. They don't always work where you want them to. Did we talk about the sub crawl in your other thread?

I agree out of those choices the jbl venue is your best bet . If its a 12 there not bad at all and the 10 inch ive not herd but cant imagine it to be much less in that class .

Yes, and that method has been suggested enough from different people I've talked to, and essentially every single YouTuber out there, my only concern would be that i would either make it boomy, cause I'm looking for the bass, or make it underwhealming, cause i could find the extra bass to be strange, but, idk, we'll see then

is it really that much of a concern? i don't it breaking apart on me, but numerous speakers i've seen are like that cause of humidity

We’ll it could hurt performance if air leaks in or out it would mabey change its performance it’s tuned to a certain frequency. But it could be replied with clamps and good glue . But my thought is if that’s damaged what else is in the unit . Your dollar my friend .

I think Mark covered your question pretty well, and I do agree. If air leaks out through that separation it's going to affect performance. Like said, some clamps and some glue might fix it right up.
