I'm having issues installing my new Sony head unit.

So I recently ordered a Sony XAV-70BT head unit. I installed it in my car and the screen doesn't work. It will still eject and accept CD's but that's the only functional feature. Any help would be appreciated.

Where did you buy it? If the screen doesn't work, you probably have a bad unit. What about the yellow wire? How did you verify voltage on it- did you check all of the wires with a meter or did you use a vehicle-specific harness? If you have a newer car, you risk screwing up the car's CAN buss electrical system by not using the correct harness. If it's an older car, you need to know with certainty which wires do what, because some cars used one color for more than one wire. What kind of car?

What vehicle and date? Is this an original replacement head unit? In modern vehicles changing head units and radios is very risky, and voids warranties.

You only ever replace with an original head unit with the same wiring harness.

double check all your wire connections,

make sure the yellow is to a good constant 12+ source, red to a good switched 12+ ,and just as importantly check your ground, best IMO to connect a extra ground wire to the kick panel chassis ground to the actual chassis of the radio .

and then double check it all over again,

test lights don't always tell the whole story, might see with an ohm meter to check your system is where it should be voltage wise .

Sounds like you may have mis-wired your +12V ignition wire. In the manual, locate this wire. It's probably not your main power wire, which should be run to a constant +12V source. Get a length of wire and jumper the +12V ign. and +12V supply wires directly to the battery and see if it works.

Double-check wiring and verify the wires are actually good and not chewed up somewhere.
