Sorry for the ignorance but I just got an OPPO DVD player. I have always only dealt with HDMI which as all know is combined video audio.
This player had an DVI to HDMI cable. DVI is on the DVD going to my HDMI on my HD TV.

Am I correct in that this does not have the audio signal of a true HDMI cable and I must now get audio cables??

Thanks

Yes, DVI is Digital Video Interface and is not capable of carrying audio as well. DVI was born of the computer industry and for a very short time was adopted by the a/v manufacturers before HDMI came along.
