The whole new tv technology pi$$es me off,its a crap shoot as far as im concerned, plasma is on its way out & prices are dropping on all other types of tv's & its frustrating to me to keep up with it all,ive been looking to replace my 4 yr old projection tv with a slim design tv that dont take up so much real estate.

If you were to go out today & had $1,500 to $2,000 to spend on a new tv what model would you buy & why, simplicity is a big plus with me,i dont watch tv but my wife does & i do not want something that i have to fool with, features are not important, also screen size is not too important to me,anything over 36" will be fine with me & the lil missus.

The main things were looking for is reliability & simplicity.

TVs are getting BIG for the money..... just get something big. For $2,000.....you should be able to get a 1080p TV in the 60-65 inch range.

If you're already spending two grand.....why get anything smaller? Anything less and you're settling. Granted... if you're a serious gamer...avoid burn-in..etc, etc, etc....but in most cases...go with the big technology in your price range.

Anything less...and you sold yourself short...

I would probably do the new 1080p 42" from Panasonic TH-42PZ700. Yes it is Plasma but it is a very nice set. it has an Anti-Glare treatment on the screen as well. For a bit more the 50" version would be nice too. The HD-ILA's from JVC look really nice when calibrated too.
