Hello Everyone,

As a new Audioholic user, I love the wealth of information on this site and wanted to know your opinion on what the best AV receiver there is on the market and why. I've done some searching and found some sites that gave me some tangible evidence as to why but wanted to get Audioholic's opinion as to what their best AV receiver is. This is something you would buy for yourself with a reasonable price range of 500-2000 and can be found readily on any website's typical offering. I've found this list on here at http://store.audioholics.com/section/69/1/surround-sound-receivers/dd5137d159cee7fc8d4b42caa80d085c

OK I am not really understanding the purpose of this thread....are you actually looking to get an AVR or are you really asking us what we think the best AVR is??? If thats the case, 'the best' is all dependent on ones needs, listening habits, room, and price range. Of the AVRs you listed I personally would pick the 3808ci with the Pioneer in second to it. The 2808ci really isn't in the caliber with the others--the Onkyo 806 is a disappointing downgrade from the previous generation 805...All of this leaves the Yamaha in third to my top two. But then again, as I said, these 'top rankings' are all relative and pointless unless directed at a particular users needs...

Sorry, my "Insta-Ban" button wasn't working last night. Next time I'll try and work on getting the elapse time down a little. See if I can break the 4 minute ban record. :)

Qualify what you want please :)

I am not going to be a fan boy but the range $500-$2000 is fairly large and it depends on your special needs:

(1)do you want HDMI if so how many?
(2)do you need video upconverting ?
(3)do you need a high current amp for 4 ohmn speakers?
(4)do you need multiple zones?

There are a lot of other questions, but what features are importnat to you /

There are lots of good answers

Rock on!
