If no input select option, how can I used S-video?

My neighbor was getting rid of a tv and I passed it on to a friend of mine. It is an RCA Model F27351WN. I brought it to the friends house and helped her hook it up. However, I'm unable to access the S-video inputs or even RCA red, white, yellow cables. There is no input select option on the tv's menu. I'm only able to access things input through the coaxial cable. We don't have the remote that came with the tv. Also, I set up the Comcast cable company's remote to use with the tv but the input select button doesn't change the inputs. It actually acts like a display button. Can someone help me figure out how I can access the S-video or RCA red, white, yellow cables? I would be very grateful. Thank you!

Back in the VCR days, it was a certain channel (typically ch2 or ch3) that one selected, rather than "VCR". How old is the TV? Maybe it works that way.

Thanks Joe.

Yes, I tried channels 2 and 3 and got nothing. Someone also recommended that I try going back in channels and maybe I'd get to "Video 1" that way but no dice.

The tv was built around 1997.

The red/white audio may not be selectable unless there are multiple inputs of it. Unfortunately if there is not a button up front on the TV, you are out of luck without a remote for that TV as it would take you to the video 1/2/3, etc.
Have you called RCA? That may be your only resolution.

Thanks. Yes, I do fear that getting RCA's original remote control may be my only hope. I did try contacting RCA via email. I wasn't able to access the tv's instruction manual only because the tv is older and they only keep records up to a certain point. I was able to find the option to buy it for $10. Also, I found a remote for $30 which mentions an input select button on the link.

I would much rather give my friend $30 towards a cheap HD TV but I may go ahead and order the remote because I have so much invested time-wise at this point.

Thanks for your help!

Just making sure that you tried the old trusty method of just hitting channel down past 1? Always works for me.

I tried to have my friend do this but she didn't have any luck. Maybe she didn't set up the channels correctly. I'll try that today. Thanks!

I have found that if there is many different codes that are listed for that brand of tv than a different code might work better...... it is just a bit wierd that the input button works like a display button as you mentioned......

That's a good point. Maybe another code would have worked better on the cable remote. However, I did buy an RCA universal remote yesterday. She's going to try it a bit later. I hope it works. Otherwise, I may be tempted to throw the tv out the window. It's only the second or third floor but it might be satisfying nonetheless. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

I bought an RCA Universal remote and it worked on the tv itself without having to enter a code. However, the antenna button did nothing.

Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks!

Type in '00'

You will have to go into the menu system of the TV and 'add/delete' chanels. The video inputs on RCA TVs are consistently considered 'channels' and are located between the top channels (123) and the lowest channel (2). If those channels are deleted then you won't be able to reach them through channel +/- functionality, but will have to go to them directly. Channel add/delete in the menu should let you scroll through all channels including the video inputs and 'add' them as normal channels. That way you can go down to channel 2, then press channel DOWN to get to the video inputs.

RCA has some of the most standard control sets I've ever seen and it is not the ANETNNA button you want to hit. That button switches the TV from looking for NTSC over the air stations and QAM cable stations. There should actually be a button labelled 'INPUT'.

Sorry for this large image - but if you look next to the '0' button to the left is the button you want to have on your remote and you want to press.

I've had 2 or 3 RCA TVs over the years and this has always worked consistently and these remotes are readily available from WalMart and Target.
