Ideas on running a projector with an lcd tv?

I was toying with the idea of getting a rear projector for movie watching, however, I don't really have a dedicated room for HT.

I was thinking - has anybody seen a setup where a standard lcd tv is wall mounted for regular tv watching, and a projector screen is pulled down in front of the tv for movie watching?

This setup would give me the best of both worlds.

This type of setup is pretty popular, but you do have to make special considerations with the screen. Cheaper retractable screens can develop waves over time (I've heard in as short as a year) because the tension isn't even when it's pulled out and in use. Tab-tensioned screens overcome this but are more expensive. Just some food for thought.

I have the setup you describe but it is in a dedicated room. I have a 42" LCD wall mounted and then an 84" electric tab tension screen that drops down. I'm very happy with this setup. Having the TV for SD content and when just hanging out saves bulb life and makes the room serve more than one purpose.

Pics of my setup are in my sig.

Highly recommended for the non-dedicated setup or for those versatile rooms which may see a LOT of TV use with lights on. We have dismantled this setup and relocated the screen to our basement rec room where it (in a few weeks) will drop in front of a 52" Sharp LCD.

One touch and the 'TV' becomes a theater...
