I am building a theather room in my basement, and i would like some suggestions on what size to build it. I was thinking a 10 x 10, but some friends are suggestions something like 12 x 12. My current set up is in the great room, which is not a theather room per say. The height is 9' but the lenght and width is up for suggestions. my current receiver is a rx 2500, so i am going to run a 7.1 surround sound. Thanks in advance.

First rule of HT dimensions - don't make a square room

Second rule of HT dimension - don't make a room with sides divisable by another side (i.e. 10 x 20)

Either of these will result in a lot of acoustical probelms.

I have attached an excel worksheet that I built from a couple of hometheater sites (I think one was sound and vision). Play with it and see what you come up with. Good Luck.

Don't do 10x10. I'm stuck in a 10x10.

I moved my setup into my living room and it was miles better :(
