Ideal placement of secondary tower speakers, 7.1 surround.

Just what it says, I have a pair of smaller, secondary towers I want to use as either side surrounds or rears, and a pair of bookshelves in the same series. Would the towers be better utilized as sides, or as rear surrounds? I have a taller set of towers as my main left and right.

Edit: The secondary towers are a little over 36" tall, my primaries are 48" in height.

I would think that there was more information in the side surrounds than the rears, I'd put the towers there.

but then, you need to make sure the tweeter is at least ear height or higher.
