ID capacitors

JBL L110 crossover. What type of capacitors are the large paper/plastic ones and should they be replaced? They are 4uF and 12uF.

To me, that one is probably one of those "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." deals. Is it functional or dead? Nothing looks burnt.

They look to be electrolytics. Are there any other identifying markings?

Functional capacitors. 4UF200VDC.

Also...How do I attach the tweeter so the voice coil fits into the magnet groove properly? (I took tweeter and magnet apart to fix dent in the dome.) There's really no tolerance in the groove at all - the groove and coil are virtually the same size and touch each other.

That's not really how you fix a pushed in tweeter. You use painter's tape.

In fact.....that might be how you completely break a pushed in tweeter. It may not ever line up correctly again now.

You are looking for a new tweeter now, unless an outfit like Orange County speakers has the parts and can rebuild the tweeter for you? Was there ferro fluid in the gap?

The gap is very deep, like 1/2" (and hollow gap inside magnet not like a solid ordinary groove). Don't think it's fluid cooled. I tried masking/duct/gorilla tape (none would stick), then suction with a round tube and couldn't get the dent out. The tweeter assmbly pulled off and I pushed the dent out from inside. So I need a professional to rebuild the tweeter?

Yes you do, as the gap is very narrow and no part of the voice coil or voice coil former can touch either the inside, or the outside if the gap. There must be air between the voice coil and former and both pole pieces of the magnet.

Actually, I just put the assembly and magnet back together and it works fine. They are attached together with screws and dome seems to line up, I guess. The dome is surrounded by (and permanently attached to) a medium-sized metal ring (as you see in photo) which must move with the dome which puzzles me. (The ring weighs as much as the dome does and probably more.)

Not fully sold on the L110. Sound a little boxy, drums do not sound realistic at mod to low volumes. Of course, as you get louder the overall sound becomes more realistic and drums come alive. Maybe I should replace the 3 xover metallic caps and thinking of ditching the Yamaha 100W amp. Wish I had my old Sansui 517 amp.
