I saw a movie at the movie theater today and I was wondering,

What subs do the movie theaters use? because If i coudl get a hold of one of those DAMN, it would be insane, they shake the whole theater, and its like as big as a warehouse, so um tell me what ones do they use?

Probably one of these, and by 1 I mean like 4. I know what you are talking about though, I get into movies for free at the THX cert. cinema here and its something that has to be experienced. From what I have heard, Canada has better theaters then the States. Or more good ones....

I don't know about in general, but the theater I went to in Calgary blows away the ones I've been to here in Houston.

I've never been in a theater with really good bass. I've been in some where there was almost no bass. Some had OK bass. None of the theaters I've been in could compare to my sub at home.

So for the poster that said his sub is better than a THX theater (are you serious) Or are you talking about a cheesy theater?
There aren't any THX cinemas in my area, so no, I did not say my sub was better than one in a THX cinema. :)

I get a lot more impact from my DIY 12" sub in my smaller living room than there is in any of the local theaters.

I would love, some day, to build a monster sub using maybe two Tumult 18" drivers. Now THAT would be insane. :D

EDIT: I forgot about the Imax theater up in Seattle. Now that is an amazing theater. The bass, along with the rest of the sound, will blow you out of your seat. Then, of course, there is the amazing screen.

Did it happen to be one of these? http://www.famousplayers.com/

These are the ones I'm talking about.

There's also the Science World theater. It's also something to experience when you come here. The screen is so big, you feel like your flying around!

Brian,

I posted the whole list of their THX subwoofers. The one you posted happens to be in said list....thats why It came up twice. :)

I believe that it was, yeah. (I'm not positive which one it was from that list, because I was just visiting and not driving, but there were several in the right area, and the picture of the theater looked very much like the one we were in.)
