I was playing with Pure Direct and Straight mode last night while streaming some MP3s and I noticed that vocals when switching out of straight mode were more diffused than in Pure Direct..... I didnt like that and proceeded to trouble shoot and came to the conclusion to that I set up wrong in Straight mode. What prompted me to [ play is that Pure Direct turns off HDMI out to the TV and I need the display to navigate through my digital media collection via the media player.

I had two settings I wanted to achieve for listening to 2 channel music, each to be stored in memory for quick recall. The first setup was set bass output to the Front Speakers only, no sub and no room correction. The 2nd setup was to play bass thru the sub and no room correction.

Plugged the MIC back into the AVR and moved the dogs upstairs as they always bark during the test tones. I ran through the setup again and left YPAO off. I got the results I was after and detected no difference between pure direct and straight when listening to music.

It was fun to play and get re-aquainted with the AVR again.
