David, read your post, sounds like me! I have a denon not too old has 100Watts per channel. And I am pushing definitive speakers. I have the 7001 towers, they did not have the 7000 others wise that would be in the room right now. I just ordered the SR875 Monday and they should be here any day now,(crutchfield). I down loaded the manual so I can get things going when it arrives. One thing I read is the ability to bi Amp the towers using the surr back speakers. Can't wait to try that option out. Now this is if you are not using your surr back, I am using only surr speakers for a 5.0 setup. I was wondering about the definitive cube speaker you mentioned, is that a sub woofer, because you already have 1800 watts in your towers, thought a sub woofer would be an over based set-up?? Oh I am paying $1400 for Onkyo, 2K less then when it first came out. I also ordered a Sit on top two fan cooler for it from Studio Tech, and there U-60 componet cabinet, Should keep thinks cool! I am 70% Audio, and 30% Vidio, so I really enjoy listening to music when I have the option and free time!

Dave, Will PM you a personal opinion of the 875 if you like, like to hear what you think as well. Wish I could hear my setup at the level you listen, but I have tinnitis, Ringing in the ear). Got in the Military, so I listen mostly at normal range, but it still sounds great if you have the power! I can return this in 30days if not satisfied for any reason, so I look forward to testing this baby out. Have Fun!!

Bi-amp and Bridging options

Hey:
I got a 875 in sept. I have tried the bi-amp and Bridging options. I ask Onk if I could run two sets of fronts using the bi-amp feature. They answered NO. Well I have done it. This amp has so many options it will wear you out.

David, overkill is good.:D
I'm with you 100%. I just got my Trinity Sub. Love it.

My thought is that if your house is not finished yet, I would not buy anything else until it is finished.

Word is that Emotiva is coming out with new pre-pros.
Since you subscribe to OVERKILL:D, why not go the separate route?

How about 200-watts per ch x 7 ch @ 8 ohms, 300 watts per ch @ 4 ohms, & 400 wpc @ 2 ohms?

Your Def Techs (esp BP7000SCs & CLR3000) are actually more like 4 ohms nominal, but the minium impedance is around 2 ohms! So you are looking at a possible max of 400 watts!

Can you say "400 WATTS per channel" ??

Ring any bells yet?

Add a pre-pro with DTS-MA, TrueHD, & HDMI 1.3 inputs, and you are set for Maximum Overdrive!

I think you should consider this, especially if you subscribe to OVERKILL.:D

They don't reccommend it, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible to do. I would venture to say that it makes little to know audible difference. Each channel is capable of delivering large amounts of power on their own. Since the same power supply is used for all channels it makes little difference.

Wait, I don't understand. Onkyo said you cannot Bi-Amp using the 2 amps intended for the Surround Rears L+R?

No. Bi-amp=one channel to the tweeter and one channel to the woofer for each speaker. So L+R channel and surr-back L+ surr-back R are used (total 4 channels). Seth is right quality of sound appears to me to be exactly the same there is just more of it!

This is why I think Yamaha new receiver has a good idea with 10+channels
