I am trying to connect A Nakamichi receiver,(with pre outs), and two
Energy take two sattelites to my pentium 4 windows PC. (3.5 ghz).
There has to be a way to do this so I can control the volume from the receiver. I have a decent sound card that is capable of a 5.1 setup so no
limitations there. I guess the limitation must be my incompetence!
Would anyone be nice enough to explain the correct way of doing this??
Thanks in advance. Rick

If you're connecting the output of the PC to any of the inputs on the Nakamichi (like Aux, CD, etc), then the receiver will control volume (the PC will as well). You should adjust your PC volume in a way that it does not clip the input of the receiver. You will know if this is happneing if you hear gross distortion even at low volumes on the receiver.

If the receiver is to be the source of the audio, then you need to route the signal IN to the soundcard. Other than higher end pro cards, most soundcards have limited input capabability - usually a single line-in and microphone in.

If you only want two channels from the receiver, you may be able to use a stereo mini to 2 RCA Y adapter and use the stereo pre-outs from the receiver to the Y adapater to the single line-in of the soundcard.
