I think I may be done with football

After the heart-breaking loss to The Jets in the playoffs, this offseason had just gotten worse and worse. First LT is cut, then Jamal Williams goes to the Broncos!! I was happy that they finally dumped Cromartie to the Jets, but then I find out we only get a 3rd round pick in 2011!!!! So we don't even get any help this year?!?!?

Now LT is a Jet?!?!? Frickin' A, I think I've had it with the Chargers, and if I can't root for them, I won't root for anybody. My wife says I say this every year, but I honestly can't remember feeling this despondent about an upcoming football season.

I feel for ya man. But what will you say when they start winning? You know that this is going to be their year right?

I can't relate to being a sports fan at all. If anything I feel completely alienated from the players. Except for maybe the Chargers. This year is their turn to kick some @ss out on that court. :D

Now you know how Packer fans felt after Lombardi left and all through the 1970s.

Yeah right. You'll say that until you see the first game on tv.

So, if the Chargers are going to win the World Series, who do you like for the Super Bowl? I'm leaning toward the Cavs.

You KNOW how good the Chargers are at the personnel game. Just look at what happened to that washed up QB they drafted awhile back...he only went on to win the Superbowl with New Orleans.

I realize you are frustrated, but are you reaaly surprised?

I have to admit I used to sort of root for the chargers (after th Packers of course), but then they traded Brees away...so now I enjoy watching them embarrass themselves again and again...:D

Gimme a break dude, hindsight's 20/20. Up to that point Brees had had ONE good season, and he had just jacked his throwing shoulder. Nobody was sure if he'd even be able to throw a football again. Of 32 teams in the NFL only 2 made Brees an offer. So I guess the guys running the other 29 front offices are idiots too?

I just don't see how you go from 13-3 and a legit Super Bowl contender to a rebuilding year in a few months.

You could always root for a different team.
Never, ever, ever, ever.

Sorry, but I've been a Chargers fan my whole life. I just couldn't bring myself to support anyone else. I kind of wear it like a badge of honor. It's easy to support a good team, but I've stuck by my Chargers through thick and thin. I've taken quite a bit of heat for being a Bolts fan, especially since I live here in the land of the 9'ers and Raiders.

Even when the XFL came out, I only half supported the SF Demons because they were local and didn't compete with the Chargers. I also sort of rooted for the Birmingham Bolts as they were sort of like the Chargers.

I've got TONS of money invested in T-shirts, jerseys, time etc., with nothing to show for it.

I'll either be a Chargers fan or nothing at all. But I guess I'm really just venting. I really thought that we'd get a Super Bowl some time in the LT era. Now that that era is gone, I'm feeling kind of lost as a Bolts fan.

That's not a badge of honor, it's more like a scab that you can't stop picking.

Everyone has gone through periods of suckitude with their team and some management understands that the fans want to see them win. Some don't or it takes them a long time to figure it out. The Packers sucked so bad that someone shot Dan Devine's dog. Management wouldn't let Bart Starr off of his short leash and they still sucked. Then, Forrest Gregg stunk the place up. Those two were kind of ham-strung, though. Phil Bengston traded away just about every good draft pick for a decade. Lindy Infante showed up just before the strike and if it hadn't been for that, I seriously doubt Don Majkowski would have seen much playing time. Then, he was thrown to the ground and he shoulder was toast, which opened the door for Brent Farve. Ray Rhodes sucked, Mike Sherman sucked and the new kid came in with Ted Thompson's blessing,
which isn't very comforting since Thompson talks about how much he still has to learn about running a football team. That doesn't exactly instill gobs of confidence in the fans. Every year, he says something stupid and the whole fan base just groans.

Your team may suck but there's something to be said for consistency. A team that's like a roller coaster, going to the finals or the Super Bowl and having the "star" do something that loses the game at the last second isn't good for our collective liver.

LOL, or when you have a sore in your mouth that you can't stop poking with your tongue.
Or, if it's on your cheek, you can't stop biting it.

I think it comes down to this: people aren't happy if they aren't suffering.
