After waiting and receiving my shipping confirmation for my Atlantic642e subwoofer that I purchased from the audioholic member Intheindustry from forums classifieds I decided to pull the trigger on the LCR3 - P Series Home Theater Front Speakers from the The Speaker Comany. Upon reading Admins the audioholic administrators review on the TSC TST2 Floorstanding Speaker Review I decided to purchase the LCR3 bookshelfs. These are my first bookshelf speaker upgrade ever! the first bookshelf speaker for my home theater fronts were the some Onkyo bookshelfs that came in a thib. I sold those on craigslist and my velodyne vrp-1200 subwoofer and purchased the bookshelfs from TSC. I hope these will knock my socks off and I hope they blend well with my Atlantic 642e subwoofer which should be coming wednesday.

The Bookshelfs have in increase of +3db in sensativity compared to my previouse Onkyo Bookshelfs. This is great because now my Onkyo receiver wont be stressed when Im cranking up the volume especially when its summer and more watts are loss to heat the increased sensitivity will help the performance of my entire system especially when I get surround speakers.

I will keep you guys up to date on how these bookshelfs performs as soon as it arrives, I will also include pics. I will post the atlantic review in the subwoofer section, or in the write your own review?

Fredhizzle,
I just wanted to chime in...I have been asking questions about speakers on a couple of forums. I wanted a good budget set for now because well, I just want some sort of sound upgrade. Everytime someone asks a question about budget the forum users will tell you to upgrade with little to no advice on what I was looking for. I don't need 1500.00 speakers and I won't buy them either. With that said, I pulled the trigger on the on TSC LCR2. I will get to those in a minute. But I would like to start by saying I have a Onkyo 304 receiver. I was looking to change my speakers out first because I had HTIB speakers and wanted to see if that would make a difference. Because frankly I was looking to change my receiver because I felt it was underpowered. So with the 30 day return policy I decided to give the LCR2 set a try. I tell you what. I now don't have to even think about a new rcv'r...I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS!!!! I think they have a clear voice tone out of the center and the L/R's are amazing in home theatre. I heard things in a movie that I hadn't heard before. For music listening I think they are perfect. At least for my ears. Bass is there, Mids are very cool, and highs are o.k..They aren't as pronounced but they are there and way above what my old HTIB speakers could ever think of producing. I have been running them for a week now and they are sounding better then they did when I first hooked them up. This is all the sound I need. I give them a 4 out of 5...I think anyone on a budget should get these things from The Speaker Company. To give you a little example and it may not sound like alot but with my old speakers, I could listen to the FM radio at volume 7 without bothering anyone in my household. With these speakers I can start to hear them at 3-4...My old speakers I had to crank them to almost max 65 out of 70 to hear the level I wanted in surround sound. With TSC speakers, I had the volume at 40 and it was amazing!!! Anyone who wants good sound on a budget, Give TSC a shot...With their return policy how can you go wrong....I will NEVER RETURN THESE THINGS!!!!!!!!

Sorry for slight Offtopic

I received my TSC TC2 center this Friday to replace my old and crappy Kenwood center - Woo! What a difference! The biggest surprise was its depth - my old center was about 4.5" deep, while TC2 is 10.8" - over twice bigger and heavier. however it wasn't a problem for my tv center.
In fact I was looking for center speaker for a while due to size limitations of TV furniture - only 6 3/4" height restriction. I was at the point of replacing it (I Paid $450 for this stand)

TC2 was a miracle - fitted perfectly and sounds awesome - after levels match done by Audyssey on my Onkyo - the system now have (according to wife) "Theater like sound"... No other blessings needed ! :)

Next in line TSB and TST1 :)

Job well done. I have recommended your products several times to budget builders. They seemed to all be amazed. Keep selling these puppies and you will have a lot of happy homes.

Nick...What a great product you have..Also, Thanks for being involved in daily forums. I am so impressed with your speakers..They sound amazing.. When i build my house in the next year or so your product will be in my theatre room. The LCR2 frankly blew me away... I can only imagine when I get the TST series for my future theatre room. I can appreciate people trying to upsell to a 300.00 speaker but when you have TSC-----Why IMO waste money!!! I have heard numerous speakers in stores with my own CD, and these come close to or match expensive speakers..WONDERFUL!!! I watched a movie last night and I walked out of my room with a SMILE ear to ear because of what I just heard.. I am now saving money for one of your subs NICK!!! Wish they were on sale now LOL!!

I think you and I experienced the same situation, I had the onkyo thib system as my first ht ever and Im in the process of replacing the onkyo fronts with TSC speakers. I too felt like my receiver was underpowered depite being rated at 130 per channel, especially when I had the 7.1 set up the onkyo surround speakers were a joke with sensitivity below 85db you really had to set them at higher db levels on the onkyo menu to hear them. After reading forums I noticed that onkyo speakers werent being too talked about so my motivation grew more to modify my system. My decision to buy from TSC was mainly based on Admin the administrators positive review on TSC floorstanding speakers. He praised them on built quality and their budget price something I was really looking for on a budget. Im glade you like the LCR3 speakers there sensitivity is really good thats why there louder at lower volumes. Correct me if im wrong but I dont think there are any speakers on the market that offer 89db in sensitivity, it seems like only expensive companies offer high sensitivity like Klipsch.

thanks for posting I thought this thread was dead haha, I thought I was the only person in this forum who was excited about getting the TSC LCR3

That center is massive here are the dimensions

Height 6.5 "
Width 18.2"
Depth 10.8"
Weight per speaker 22.22lbs

looks like a it would present a strong soundstage but its specs contradict it though.. at least in the bass frequency. It digs 15hz less than the LCR3. What do you think, is the bass solid on those?

Ay! I want to post pics of my babies besides I think people here like blued888 want to see them fully sealed in the box, and freshly unwraped l swear I think this is what it going to feel like when my wife gives birth. The box is like the womb and the speaker itself is like the new born and all the wrapping stuff is like the goo from the baby and other nasty stuff that i wont get into detail:p

The TC2 is a large speakers and sound very different than the RC1 (LCR3). The TC2 sonically matches the rest of the T series (towers, books and sats) and has a more "warmer" sound than the P series. Both deliver good bass for their size but used as center channels are not usually called upon to do so.

Thanks a lot Nick, I got worried for a sec there :) But it also looks like my TC2 includes more efficient tweeter and based on my decision to get TST1/2 first place has been just confirmed even further :)

Its kinda "ok" that TST2 is out of stock, since TST3 would be overkill for my space and I'd die while deciding b'ween 1 and 2. I guess now it's no brainer..

I receieved the LCR3 last week they came on the same day as my subwoofer, and I ordered the sub about 3 days before the bookshelfs!
The Speaker Company did a great job on packaging the LCR3s they were very secured with carton foam boxes. I put a dvd next to the box so you can get a perspective on how big the box is
.

I listened to mostly music because I never really had the time to watch a movie. I listened to my two favorite genres alot of hard rock and some rap, I listened to the same tracks I heard a million times with my previous Onkyo bookshelfs to get a comparison and an ideal on the LCR3 differed in performance. When I first fired them up off the bat I noticed several things first of all the cones don't move excessively or hardly at all which explains why these have high sensitivity and my receiver did not get scorching hot after several minutes like it would have if I had my onkyo bookshelfs that came in a thib (btw they had 86db in sinsitivity). second the soundstaged these presented were not to impressive they didnt provide the nice warm bass from the vocals like I would of liked.
The LCR3 front right center and front left have good output they didnt distort at high volumes the tweeters were screaming with no distortion. I wanted to give the LCR3s another shot at how they performed in the bass side of the sound spectrum so I turned the sub off and set my receiver to stereo to see how the LCR3s performed, my opinion didn't change they were weak in bass output. I also noticed that the cones were hardly moving too, and the rear ports were pumping air so I was convinced that these speakers didnt have good bass output. These speakers (which Im pretty sure are meant to be combined with a good subwoofer) should only be used with a subwoofer to get some good lfe.

After some serious thinking I decided to keep these based on these reasons

1. They are solid built speakers provide good clear highs and good sensitivity
2. I have an Atlantic sub which hit 25hz so the sub provides the lower frequencies that the LCR3s cant get too.
3. The price, these are very cheap and there for people like me who are on a budget, also they have very good warranty.
4. Im going to live in a dorm next year at Fresno State University

Dont laugh at my tv its next on the upgrade list, I expect the LCR3 to get better timbre as I listen to them more and let the speakers loosen up.

Thanks for the pictures. Was initially supposed to grab a tSc set last year but ultimately decided on getting Infinity instead because back then tSc didn't have much user reviews.

I might look into their offerings in the future when a relative can send home some of the speakers for me. (I live in the Philippines) :D

I was also thinking of getting Infinity betas before the LCR3 and after I received the LCR3. I decided to stick with the LCR3s because they were good speakers and I would of got a headache searching for good deals for betas and a matching center.

I bet the cost of living is way cheap over, but probably if im not wrong, the only pro I can think of living in the Philippines is cheap labor for a dedicated Home theater room but expensive shipping for speakers?
