Loud Speakers
I want to get a 5.1 tower system. I would like to spend in the $1500 range (I would spend a few hundred more for the right system.) This is just for the speakers (including sub.) I think I'm going to get the Denon 2309ci for my receiver. I've always wanted a Denon (I don't know why, I just do.)
My preferences are probably a little different than most. LOUD is what I'm aiming for. While I do not want speakers that distort badly, I'm looking mainly for decibels.
I was looking at the Synergy series Klipsch, but I've seen some poor reviews of those.
Look for the highest efficiency/sensitivity 8 ohm speakers you can find. A speaker with at least 94 db and closer to 100dB sensitivity would be loud and meet your needs.
Coincident Triumph Signature UHS (utlra high sensitivty) are an updated $1,199 per pair,
Frequency Response: 45Hz - 35Khz
Impedance: Flat 8 ohms
Sensitivity: 94 db @ 1M-1Watt
Power Requirements: 3 watts - 200 watts
Dimensions: 16" H x 9" W x 11.5 " D
Weight: 28 lbs.
(don't know squat about these speakers or how they sound but they would be LOUD).
One I am more familiar with and sounds good loud is Definitive Tecnology at 92 dB efficiency. The BP7004s would fit close to your price range.http://www.definitivetech.com/Products/products.aspx?path=Speakers%20By%20Series|BiPolar%20Series&productid=BP7004
However, get the Denoin 2309ci and if you really want
LOUD the get either a Berhinger EP2500, XPA-1 Monoblock or Emotiva LPA-1
However loudness also depends on your room size and how close you are going to sit to the speakers.
Good Luck! ... can you hear me ???

P.S.- IMHO Loudness isn't the best metric to use to select speakers.
