I have an oppo blue ray and I am trying to get my denon receiver to play the dts and true hd. It doesn't seem to recognize the hd audio from the oppo. I have checked the settings on the oppo. The hdmi is set for bit-stream and the secondary audio is off and the sacd is pcm. When playing movies the oppo displays dts +hdma plus multi channel but the denon 890 only recognizes it as 2 channel and I don't get the full audio I want with this new purchase.Could it be my cable(blue jeans 1.3 rated) or am I missing something? I have been trying to fix this for hours now and getting a little frustrated.

After doing some more playing around I see my hd Sat only comes in as 2 channel as well. I am thinking it is something with the receiver and the set up some how.Not sure what to do..Hope someone can enlighten me

When you ran the Oppo set up wizard on step 5 of 6 did you choose advance? Sorry saw that you set the Oppo is where everything needs to be. So it's on the receiver's end.

Well I have to ask did you update the firmware? there have been issues with 2310ci /890 not able to decode True HD in bitstream but this was fixed through a firmware update to my knowledge, so you may just have to update the firmware.

The 890 does not have an rc slot so if that is the case I have to take the whole unit into a repair shop to do the upgrade.I may end up taking it back..

Some quick questions:
  • Do you get anything but two-channel audio from anything that you play from any source? You don't happen to have the Denon in stereo mode, do you?
  • Are the Oppo and satellite receiver connected directly to the Denon using HDMI?

So far only two channel from the oppo and the satellite. I will check into the stereo mode. Both are hooked up directly to the receiver with hdmi cables and are assigned. The mode is PL II. The receiver just doesn't seem to be picking up the true hd and dts from the oppo . I just upgraded the oppo with the latest firmware as well and it has a new auto feature on the hdmi output for bitstraem or lpcm....I also can't seem to get my sony blue ray to work with it either as it is set for 1080i but the denon says the output is 480 very frustrating I'll say
