Im new to all this audio equipment and have no idea what to buy. I.have two nice speakers and a tv. I want the tv sound to come through the speakers and I also want to be able to play music wirelessly from the speakers. It would be nice if I could play music over wifi and not be harnessed by bluetooth's range. Also if I could stream music from anywhere in my house without first having to turn something on, that'd be great. (My friend has Sonos, which was super easy to use. My other friend used to have a reciever where he had to turn it on and switch to the.right input before he could play music over the wifi). Finally, I would like to be able to play music while someone watches tv or plays video games on mute.

I'm sorry for being so vague about everything, any suggestions help! My budget is around $500, Thanks!

You want a receiver in order to connect the speakers and tv. You can get decent ones from Denon and Yamaha starting around $250 or so, maybe a little less if you surf around. Not sure what your music source is, but many receivers include Apple's Airplay which would allow you to stream wirelessly from an iPhone or iPad. If you're not an Apple guy, you would need a Bluetooth connection. Sonos is great for distributed audio, but it's pricey as well, and probably outside your budget. Do you have speakers in other rooms now or is this something you need to add?

Modest, but should work.

Harman Kardon AVR 1565

2 pairs of Yamaha NS-6490 3-Ways

1 Yamaha NS-C210BL 2-Way center speaker

A few bucks over budget, and you'll have to shop your sub later, but it's all spanking new. I recommend you get you speakers used from Kijiji or Craigslist if you can. You'll be able to acquire better gear for your money. A used AVR2600 or AVR3600 could also be found, used for 200~300 bucks, and offer a much more oomph for your dollar.

Good shopping.
