I need a replacement for Logitech Z-5500

Hello,

I currently own a Logitech Z-5500 speakers system that I mainly use to listen to music and movies. The subwoofer is awsome, but there is a lack of details in mid/high while listening to classical music and movies. My dad has a Canton 5.1 speakers system with a Denon receiver (around 2000$ for the whole set) and the sound isn't more powerful, but richer and nicer.

Well, this is mainly what I'm looking for at the moment, but I don't have his budget.

Here is some models that I was looking for :

-Polk Audio RM6880
-Klipsch HD 500

I'm listening to several kind of music from techno to classic .. so I would need a bit of bass.

There is also a set from a compagny named "Fluance" that is only selling on the Internet I think. There is some floorstanding speakers, what is the avantage to have that kind of speakers ?

I need advices/suggestions and maybe a nice entry-level receiver.

Thank you !

Well going from computer speakers to HTIB is ok, but there are better options.
Whats the budget for whole system - I assume $600 you dedicated to speakers

My budget would be around 1000$ for the speakers set and the receiver.

And I assume you can't order directly from SVS US web site?

Honestly, no sarcasm here. I don't know why not

he would still have to pay import duties and VAT - Canadian dealer would be far easier, even if a US SVS dealer would ship across border --- very unlikely if SVS has a Canadian dealer.

you might check with Future Shop, supposedly they are going to have a great sale on Polk RTi10 towers starting 12/24 for $500 C for a "pair". Not a full 5.1 yet, but a hell 0f a start.

Also check with FS about any Energy speakers on sale. Currently various Energy series are on sale in the US (www.wwstereo.com), and since Energy is a Canadian company you would think they would offer the sale in their home territory.

I am honestly surprised the fact there are so many Canadian speakers manufactures (Axiom,Energy etc...), yet audio is so expensive across the border.
