I was looking at speakers on-line, when I went to Bestbuy.com. I was just going to check out what they offered on-line. I wanted to see if they had better stuff on-line then they had in the stores. I was looking up the Athenas just for the fun of it. I know the retail at the stores is something like $275 a piece. But what did I see, it was at $179.99 a piece. I couldn't believe my eyes. I think someone either messed up or they are discontinuing. Just to make things short, I have them at home. Just buy it on-line, and chose pick up. Shipping is insane so don't think about that. Go out and get them.

So if anyone just wants a pair of speakers that received good reviews and are really cheap. Go get them before they are gone or they jack back up the price. I hope this information make a couple of other people happy. Oh the speakers come in a huge box, so make sure you are ready for them.
If anyone get them let me know. Laters.

Haha!!! That's how much they normally cost and it's a great price. I'm about to pick me up a pair myself. :)

I don't know about that. Most places I checked had them at around 550 a pair including shipping. I just checked out Bestbuy again and they stopped selling them. They show that there are more for pick up but you can't buy them from the site. So I hope some people got in on them. Oh I love these speakers, I have them hooked up on my Yamaha rx-v1400. I have been playing anything I have to see how they sound. I was watching Pirates of the Caribbeans. The effects sounded great, the explosions had great bass. I still need a subwoofer, but I am quite satisfied at this point. Tell me what you guys are hooking your Athenas to. Laters.

Denon 2802

A pair of F1's in the front, the matching center and a pair of B2's bringing up the rear. ...and a Velodyne 1210 sub.

Not too shabby if I say so meself. Those sensitive speakers mate well with the 90 watts the Denon is specced for. IOW, it plays plenty loud and clean for us.

Pretty decent on music as well. Natural sound, great imaging and all things nice.

I've had the speakers for over two years. I got 'em when they first came out, even before they hit the AudioAdvisor catalog.

I do have one gripe though. When I bought my stuff, I paid more for the F1's than the F2's are currently selling for.

Can't really complain, though. I've had the pleasure of listening to them for quite a long tome so far. ...probably gonna be even longer. No plans on replacing them.

I am happy to hear that you had them that long. I really didn't know if I wanted them. But because of the great price and all the great reviews I saw I had to at least try them out. I originally wanted to buy B&W speakers the 600 series. I always wanted to own speakers from that company. LOL, that why to tell you the truth my fronts right now is a VM-1 from B&W, with a pair of LM-1 in the rear. I still need to figure out what I am going to do about a sub and the rear back speakers. I am thinking about getting a Hsu research VTF-2 for the sub, but I have to save up for that. But as I said I am quite happy with what I have already, and I have to thank this website for alot of help deciding. Laters all.
