Squishman Audioholic Samurai Jun 28, 2025 #1 I brought over some CD's and a couple of LP's to @TLS Guy's place today. Some stuff that I am very familiar with and have heard for decades. First, some bass guitar-heavy rock by The Call and a jazz-fusion LP by the great bass player from Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke. Those sounded unreal. Very tight. Then a Doobie Brothers CD, "Where Were Once Vices are Now Habits", which is nicely produced. It is an album that has been in my top-20 since the 70's so I know the sounds well. No way has anyone ever heard it better. I commented to Mark that the Doobie Brothers should be hearing this with us! Then played some really great tracks from my all-time favorite soundtrack, "Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery". It just blew me away. It's like hearing your favorite albums for the first time. I brought a few we didn't get to (Dusty in Memphis, Steely Dan, Adam Again). Then he put in a CD that he had recorded himself some years back of pipe organ, piano and trumpet. Then something from his streaming app. I cannot recall the conductor, but it was an orchestra of probably 75+ musicians that demonstrated his 11 channel atmos system. It was fascinating and very enjoyable even though, it's not my usual cup o' tea. The Marantz AV10 is a beautiful unit. I mean it just looks like quality in his rack. Oh and I saw the very sturdy rack that he built too. You cannot see it from the theater room, it's in back, separate room. It was a nice visit as usual. Last edited: Jun 28, 2025

Squishman Audioholic Samurai Jun 28, 2025 #2 Oops, typo above. The Doobie Bros. album is called "What Were Once Vices are Now Habits". It is early Doobies. I personally like the Tom Johnson era of the Doobies over the later Michael McDonald era, although some of that was pretty good. Like "Takin' it to the Streets", that was good.

So it is not as if you have to buy a plane ticket to Sydney Australia!
