Well Blockbuster finally went and did it. The last store that was anywhere near my area is closing. I went to return my movies yesterday and they were selling everything. That sucks. BB used to be so convenient because even though new titles would be on a wait most of the time online, I could usually walk into the store and rent them that way with their in-store exchanges.

I just looked at my queue and I have to scroll down to #29 on my list to see an available title! Ridiculous.

Guess I'll have to go back to Netflix now which I don't wanna do because I have no interest in streaming and they throttled the hell out of me the last time I was with them.

This is beyond lame!!!

For new or relatively new releases we have been using Redbox and really like it. Cheap and convenient. They don't have a back catalog or online streaming yet but that could change.

I'm the opposite. I would never use Blockbuster again. For newer stuff, Redbox seems to work perfectly for me. No membership fee, plenty of time to return it, price is very reasonable - only the selection can be limited at times, but between that and Netflix, I have more than enough to watch.

Sounds like you should be using AMAZON PRIME. Just note that most of the other services still don't have the selection of Netflix. I had zero issues with their disc service, but cancelled it when they raised prices. Streaming side is pretty good at this point. Prime is very decent.

I feel your pain. For years we had a Blockbuster literally a five minute walk from my house. If I was bored, I could simply stroll over and see what was on the racks. Likewise, their "3 for $25" used videos was a great way to beef up my personal collection.

They closed two years ago and it's still missed. I don't like Redbox so Netflix is the best way for us to get discs.

But, this has also spurned us to look into streaming. Netflix ain't bad, particularly if you like less than most current TV shows. Amazon Prime is good and has a fairly nice, but chaotic, selection of movies and TV. Vudu, a division of Wal-mart is free and you just pay for what you watch. Most of the more current selections have 5.1, at least on my Sony players. These are good options if you have a fast ISP.

Does Redbox do BD's though? There's a Redbox in my local Safeway.

I'd be surprised if there weren't 10 redboxes close to you. You can browse what is actually in each box by location too and the phone app is surprisingly decent. They've done BD for over a year now. Redbox has been talking about a streaming service for a while; time will tell.

If you sign up for their TXT deals, they will send you one code for a free movie every month (free DVD or discount against BD), and random deals like 50 cents off or a free game.

Yes they do. It is 50 cents more so it works out to about 1.50/night for BR rentals.
Yeah, I just checked out their website and it looks like my local one has a decent selection of BD's. I might have to give that one a shot.

Redbox now has a streaming service, so far I've only seen it on the XBOX 360, but I'm sure it won't be long before it's on the PS3, Roku, and other devices.
