One of the few benefits of my job is that we get an extra couple days off a year. So, here it is ... just about 10:30pm on Sunday... I'm about 3 long islands into a bender. I hooked the wife's new laptop up to the system so she's got Pandora blaring and she's playing solitare on the TV. Good use of 65 inches I guess. She actually put together an awsome station that's playing all sort of great alt rock... Collective Soul, LIVE (my farvorite band), 3 Doors Down, Everclear, etc. Anyway... she's playing name that tune with me. She gets pissed that I know every song and artist within the first few seconds.

I have noticed my memory not a free flowing as it used to be however. Turning 40 a few months back has taken it's toll.

Anyway.. I"m stoked! No work. I get 4 weeks vacay a year plus 2 sick weeks, but it's not worth taking half the time because you come back after one day and the whole world's gone to ****. This is good though. I'm actually relaxed, fairly happy, and stress free. I've bought wine, some goodies for my AR, some cool tactical stuff for playing soldier in my run and gun fun at the range, and some computer crap. I'm on a role.

My tumbler is just about empty, however, so it's time to clap my hands together and get the wifey up to make me another drink!~

Chris enjoy your time off and drink 8 for me....:D
I just woke up Jamie. I opened my eyes up at 5am like I always do, smiled, rolled over... wished my hangover would disappear, and went back to bed. It's gold. It's a perfect day here today.. about 68 degrees and sunny. We're gonna do something outside... maybe hit up some antique shops and make the wife's day.

I'm a bit slow, but none the worse for wear. I wan't pounding drinks just drinking large tumblers of long islands over a few hours. I've come to the conclusion that long islands are expensive. I was making them with the good stuff. I ran out of triple sec, and started using Quantro on top of it. All my bottles are half empty now!

I don't care though. I'm totally relaxed. Haven't checked work email in two days and even spent some time fooling around on Facebook chatting with some old high school friends. We're getting ready to head now though. There's a new kitchen store that just opened up... sorda like a warehouse that has all kinds of kitchen supplies. I love to cook so that's where I'm headed. I need a new chinois and some other goodies.

That looks more like it belongs in a lab than a kitchen.

Well, I spent the day doin' a little maintenance on my truck. The usual stuff; oil, filter, grease, spark plugs, etc.

That's funny! It's just a fancy name for a strainer I guess. I've been around too many chef's. When I was doing charity competitions and stuff, and doing the contests at the country club, the head chef would lose his mind if I called it a strainer. You just get in the habit of calling things what they are... I guess it's sorda like someone calling a subwoofer a speaker. Yeah it's a speaker, but it's really a sub.

We did get some good stuff while we were out. No strainer, but some other goodies. The place was actually a BergHoff store and everything was 50% off. They had some decent wine glasses there that we got for $9 each. I'm tired of buying Reidels and Speigelau that break every couple of uses. These were actually nice... kinda in the middle as far as thickness. I like them. We bought a couple dozen for red and white so if we break them or someone else does, I won't be crestfallen about another $35 glass getting thrown out.
