Guys, it is hard to believe, but I just ordered a pair of Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 SE's for my rears! Just paid off my Panasonic BD35 BR player so I thought why not. Dave, is having a great sell on them in that I got $50 off AND free shipping! Heck, I even got 10% off of the Omni Series 20 wall mounting brackets. Now, that is what I call a deal! One too good even for me to pass up. Man, I am so excited yet again!

Phil, you've built up a really nice system. My vote for next upgrade, and its a doozie, I know, hold off for a year+, and perhaps a Panny 58" plasma.

IMO, your display has some catching up to do relative to your audio!

Thanks Jost for posting. Yeah, I have been trying to get a nice set-up together. So far so good. However, it may be a while before I can upgrade my flat panel as it is not paid off just yet. I don't owe a lot, but I have until April before I have to start paying interest. Needless to say, that will NOT happen as i never pay interest on larger purchases. You are correct though, that when I do upgrade it will be larger than a 42".

They are great for both! I really like them for music the most. Why you ask? It is because my preference has been and always will be on musical performance first and foremost. How do you spell overkill? I purchased 2 of those for the mains but returned them for the just released Sierra at a discounted opening price. I was plenty satisfied with the 170 and would have had no problem keeping them. The 170 are one of the best values around.

Funny, but I can pick out a T.V. in five minutes but will labor over speakers for months. IMO Ascend and Mackie are the best values out there for HT and music respectively. Looks like you're done until Dave makes a bi-pole for the sixth channel.

Thanks Mud for your kind words. I am done for now, until Dave comes out with something else. Is he working on a bi-pole speaker? I am not aware of it if he is. Sure would be nice though. I have never heard the 170's so I am really looking forward to hearing them. The Sierras are too expensive for my budget. I am sure they sound great, but I only have so much money. Glad to hear you really liked the 170's. Makes me feel like I made a wise decision. Given the deal Dave has on them right now, I feel like I did the right thing.

My 170's will be here next Wednesday or Thursday. Gosh, I am so excited! Really looking forward to getting them up and running. I will also have to run Audyssey once again. Sure have been getting some practice at doing so as of late. Surely, I am getting better.

Hey Phil, I can't wait for your thoughts! I don't own any SACD's or DVD-A discs so having matching surround speakers was never a prioirity. However I may have to rethink my position now because of HD audio associated with BR. So what surrounds are you using currently and what made you opt for the change.
