Early Saturday morning in the drizzle rain I snapped this from my car with my iPhone. Didn't want the wipers to interfere, thats why the spots. The car in the foreground reminds me of the Get Smart! Sunbeam but not sure if this is same kind. Any car buffs out there can i.d. it? Thanks!

You're thinking of a Sunbeam Alpine like this 1962 version

I could easily be wrong, but the car you saw might be an early Japanese imitation of an Alpine. It looks somewhat larger and has tamer looking lines.

Had I not been coming from the grocery and needing to get things in the fridge I could have followed this car to it's destination and asked the driver what kind of car are you driving.

I was thinking Toyota Tiara, but the headlights don't look quite right.

Does sort of look British, but can't quite put a finger on it.

Kind of looks American 50s/60s, but I'm still thinking British.

I can't think of any American cars that compact in the 50s or 60s....
65 Rambler American. My Grandmother had a Dart that was also relativecly compact for the time.

I went to college with this guy whose brother in law owned a junk yard. He told my friend take any car you want and he picked the Hillman because it was so obscure, body and interior were in pretty good shape but the motor was shot so he did a total rebuild. Car ran fine but it wasn't going to set any performance records. I don't think many were imported.

Looks like that's it

I think that's it, what make/model? BTW I was not testing anyone with my question, I had never seen this car and was wondering what it is. I sometimes see classic cars in my neighborhood (early in the mornings on weekends).
