It's coming along. You can tell this photo was shot at Christmastime, cuz Christmas bric-a-brac is present and the Christmas music channel is on the sorta fingerprint-smeared TV screen. TT is a NAD 533 with Rega Super Elys, speakers are the really underrated (IMO) Polk Monitor 70s, which got real nice after break-in and the addition of Canare cables. CD/DVD player is a low-level Panasonic, which does the job. I am not using the little Sony sub, which was obtained to augment Paradigm Mini Monitors (destined soon for ePay). The newest addition is the Outlaw Audio 2150 receiver, which, apparently, I was lucky to get, as they are sold out AGAIN. I can't say enough good things about this beast, except Wow.

standing waves

Thanks. I had a Polk PSW 450 there for awhile, but the room is awash in standing waves or whatever. Bass all over the room, *except* in my listening chair, which I think is too low. If I can manage to get my ears a few inches higher, I think I might be OK.

Your not going to get around hte standing waves without doing some serious work.

Also, you listening position is more sensitive to horizontal movement rather then vertical. Move your seating position back a bit and you might get more bass.

The Definitive SuperCube III is one of the more musical subs I have heard ina while (unfortunately I couldn't afford it as an upgrade so I setlled for the ProSub100TL)

This Sub IMO would pair beautifully with the POLK M70s which are underatted IMO too.

You're right. I am hoping to get the HSU within a couple of weeks for a trial/review, and I will see what happens. But from my memories of the Polk, if I raised my ears a foot or so, the bass appeared. Horizontally, I am already almost back against the sliding glass door. It's a weird room.

Your not going to get around hte standing waves without doing some serious work.

I think you should try putting a drape or curtain over that so its not so harsh in the treble (assuming it is).

It truly is a bad room, audio-wise. There are blinds over the glass door, though, and the highs are OK -- at least to my aging ears.

I think you should try putting a drape or curtain over that so its not so harsh in the treble (assuming it is).
