Hello everyone ,I have just finshished the GR-research a/v 3' and the matching subwoofer/pr. I am pondering doing an I/ B subwoofer:D ,just want to try it from everything I have read it is suppose to sound great .Has anyone had any experience in building one I will be using 4 12's in a manifold in the attic and will be running both sides with the behringer a500 shows 230watts into 4ohms ,might be less ,just curious on the size of the manifold was thinking about a 2-3 inch gap between the woofers and tword the edge of the box and also seperating the woofers in the middle and approximatley 10 inches wide so it would be about 31 inches long 17inches high and 10 inches wide .Does this sound like it will work .Any pointer would be greatly aprreciated .and by the way the drivers are the same woofer as the gr sub to help match and the room is apporx. 14 feet by 13 feet and the ceiling goes from about 8 feet up to 12 feet. Thanks in advance Ron.

My Dad once told me about what he called the "University of Michigan Infinite Baffle Speaker." When he was getting his PhD there, it was a popular thing to mount a cone speaker on a board that fit into your dorm room window. This was in the days of mono, so you just needed one.

It evidently worked rather well. It got complaints from the neighbors though, and I think it was a fair weather thing...

I /B subwoofer

Hey skrivis ,isn't that more like a dipole a true infinite baffle is were the front and rear waves never meet ,and hopefully my neighbors don't mind to much .I don't go crazy with my system anyways .It just sounded like a neat project and another reason to buy some more speakers ,and the wife is okay with it:eek: because the big box on the floor is going by by .:D

No, it was a true IB. The backwave goes to the outdoors and is prevented from going into the room. (Unless you have another window open.)
