I have shamed everyone here and myself by purchasing this...

:( I don't know what to do, I don't like the system. I was just so desperate for surround sound that I didn't even pay attention to what I was purchasing!

And I purchased it based on WATS alone... Ahhh!!!

How can I repent my sins? I am going to try to sell it. And purchase a new one.

If I do sell it, what could I do to reclaim myself (under 450).

Please don't shun me...

For $260, no one is going to shun you. We spend $199 on a single dvd player here. $450 won't buy you much, but it will get you started.

A solid entry level receiver, dvd player, 5 speakers, a subwoofer, and interconnects recommended by most here (on a budget) will run you at least $850 if you don't want a HTIB type setup.

What size room are we talking? Do you need "cube" speakers, or can you go bookshelf? Do you have any audio equipment right now?

My room is 9.9 x 13.

It is oddly shaped. I have my entertainment center in the corner.

I bassically only have this stupid entertainment system in a box. I really wanted some quality sound with a great subwoofer, but that didn't happen to well.

Purchased this system for gaming, thats what I mainly need it for. (Xbox360, PS2, Gamecube, and TV/some movies).

So there is no cheap way going about this? I just want it to have a deeper stronger subwoofer and acctually feal the sound go around me.

With this Crap in a Box the Left Front and Left Right speaker sound the same (No clear distinction) and I cannot get all the speakers to work while playing a game. I put the Sound field on it to DDPL but the rear left speaker and center are extremely quiet.

And I appreciate the speedy response. I really hope to get a great sound system up and running!

This is the only good system that I have seen in your range. http://www.accessories4less.com/cgi-bin/item/ONKPACK2

But I think you'd do better with bookshelf speakers if you can.

I garauentee this system with destroy your Sony HTIB.
What's garauentee? JK Sheep. I thought you had spellcheck. ;)

Yes, that is a good system for your budget. It has very good bass, and is perfect for gaming. You should already have a dvd drive in your pc.

I'm not a big fan of Logitech's highs, but Sheep loves them. Definitely go demo a set.

I'd probably go with this setup for a PC system first. I like a little more detail in the highs (probably b/c I'm almost deaf from my truck setup  ).

I don't like them, I have a EQ going ATM so I can listen to music on them. They're fine for gamming, but not music(at least to me).

I forgot to hit the spell check button.

Sheep is correct, if you purchase the Logitech or Klipsch system for direct hookup to your PC, you can download a Winamp or Windows Media Player EQ to perfectly tweek the sound to your liking.

This HTiB has 0 digital inputs according to CC's web site, so you are not going to be getting real surround dolby 5.1 sound with this HTiB and your xbox 360. the xbox 360 needs to connected via an optical cable to a receiver to transmit the 5.1 signal...in short, take it back!

:(

Hey there. I went to Best Buy (I get an Employee Discount) and Circuit City. They both didn't have the Z-5500... They only had the Z-5300 for $200.

I also talked to one of the guys at Best Buy and he reccomended the Yamaha YHT-270 it seems pretty decent, would you reccomend that over the Z-5500? Or should I order the Z-5500 or just get the Z-5300 for gaming.

Thanks alot, I want this to work!

No, that Logitech system will outperform that with SPL and bass response (which you're looking for right?).

That site I linked in my original post can ship. Order it online for less then your BB and CC discount. The BB I worked at wouldn't price match them they're so cheap.

EDIT: Here it is again. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=12847&vpn=970115-0403&manufacture=Logitech

Those Yamaha speakers are junk. Go with either the Logitech Z5500 or Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1.

What did you think about the sound of the Z5300? Love it or hate it?

You know, if you're patient, you could order this setup with the STF-1 for $499, and slowly add components for an amazing sound system. It's more expensive, but you know how time flies. Buy a little at a time, and by summer, you may be glad you didn't rush into it.

While I have not heard any of the above systems, I do have a HSU sub and respect for HSU products. If it were me, I would find a way to go with the HSU system. Especially since bass is important to you.

Gaming bass and Home-Theater/music bass are not the same thing.

My HT system didn't do a very good job with computer gaming. I still think the logi system will provide a better gaming experience.

Hey thanks for the link for the online shop!

It costs around 80 dollars for 2-3 day shipping.

For a total of 330 dollars.

The one at BestBuy costs 250 + Discount probably around 190.
Im going to see if I can find one! Haha.
