I am so confused!

I am trying to hook up my Toshiba "cinema' View TV to my Toshiba D-VR4SU
DVD recorder and my cable box. I was trying to hook up all this stuff through
an Onkyo TX DS 575. To make matters worse I was trying to use self amplified speakers. I just want a center channell and two front channel speakers...and I'm lost. I know it's asking a lot.....but can anyone help?
I have tons of adaptors,,so lots of rca to 1/4 pin adapters, coax to RCA etc.

It would help if you explain what you are trying to do.

You can connect the cable box and dvd recorder to the receiver and the receiver to the TV but you'd use normal non-powered speakers.

Confused

I'm just trying to run a center speaker and two front speakers to improve
the sound of TV and movies. I need to use smaller speakers...something slightly larger than a mutimedia speaker. It's in a master bedroom and we
don't want the system to be the focal point!! I wouldn't mind putting in a small sub either. I've got some smaller speakers...jbl & NHT....I suppose
those would work?

Sure, any normal speakers will work and JBL and NHT are both fine brands.

So I guess you are not tring to run your self amplified speakers thru your reciever?
