for three months now i have been in contact with comcast trying to get a cable box that supports DD 5.1 i have called them 6 times, had an online chat with them about 10 times each one lasting anywhere from 30 mins to an hour and i still have yet to get a box supporting it. on about the 7th attempt they finally scheduled a technician to come out and give me a box, this cost me around 30 bucks, when the ******* showed up, he gave me the same exact box as before. i called them back AGAIN and they told me i had to drive 50 miles to one of the main offices to swap it myself, so i did, when i got there, they told me they can't give me a box because i live in _______ massachusetts and when i asked them the reason, only answer i got was "that's just our policy" so i call them back AGAIN and they tell me i have to drive 60 miles to another main office to swap it. im not even going to bother driving there this time, i refuse to waste gas to get the same box as before. heres my issue, i bust my A$$ working to pay the outrageously high bill and they refuse to supply me with up-to-date cable service that i am paying for, "you pay for HD and you have an HD signal, but we cant give you a box that actually gives you an HD signal" this is a serious problem here, someone needs to fix this, if companies cant deliver what they promise, they need to fail, miserably.

Might I suggest Directv or Dish, I have Directv and never had one issue with picture or sound.

We bailed on Comcast about a year ago because we were sick of them raising their rates every year. We have AT & T U-verse right now and we like it a lot.

Get DishNetwork

or uVerse or at least DirecTV -- gotta move away from cable - fiber or satellite.

Take Care,

I am really close to dropping Comcast as well, as they have steadily raised my rates over the last 2 years without any increase in service (and I don't even have their HD package). I am really tired of them. Another buddy said he is happy with Uverse also, but it isn't in my area, so probalby will go Dish since they are offering great new customer deals.

Not in your area? That's weird. It's not like you live in the boonies or anything.

I KNOW! Tell me about it. At my old apartment I had Verizon FIOS and it was not only fast but it was cheap. A bunch of my neighbors recently switcht to Dish too, so I guess...keep up with the Joneses.

I signed up for Dish last night. $30 a month less (for 1yr) for more channels with HD and a DVR. Even after the 1yr, it will still be $15 less.

If they have you drive to one of their main offices then you should drive your car or truck into the main office ;)

I have Charter Cable. Its cable, but I'm pretty happy with it. I really like the On Demand option, freaking cool. I wish satellite companies had that option. I do need to check if u-verse or fios are in my area.

yea well the issue is i cant switch companies because their internet and phone bundle combined with cable is wicked cheap and if i had all three from another company it would cost me more, plus their internet is like the fastest around, i get 28mbps, and that is all the time, not conditional. their products are great, but the CSR's never know anything.

Have you thought about getting a Tivo-HD?

That would solve everything.
