Today I'll hook up this 2/12 black low voltage cable I got at Home Depot. This stuff is intended for those little garden lights that our Wives have strung all over the place. I intend to replace my 2/16 zip with this stuff as an inexpensive experiment.

I talked to the guy in the cable department, and he steered me to this as opposed to their clear jacket zip because it's 30% cheaper.

I'll let you know if there are any astounding revelations.

Day 2

They're in, and looking rather handsome to boot. However, I'm keeping the old cables, with labels, just in case. These observations and findings are purely subjective, but here goes.

For whatever reason, the overall sound seems a little brighter. (I could be mistaken, but...) Ordinarily, I keep treble/bass set to flat, the LFE at 0db, and all speakers set to small with BASS handled by subwoofer.

I changed all speakers to large except the rear centre, and set BASS to BOTH, to get the nice warm sound I used to have.

Any ideas?
