So I was looking for a new "scent", I only wear cologne when I am going out at night and sometimes for business meetings during the day... I have been wearing acqua di gio for a while, then switched to Code which I liked in the store but then wasn't crazy about the first few times I used it...

Well the other day I was in the "Le Man" shoppe, fun place to visit, expensive cigars, headphones, jewelry, hats, socks, shoes, razors, colognes, ect... The place just has that smell to it you can never reproduce... And since I am not totally happy with Armani Code every time I go there I smell a few different scents {they say you can't smell more than a couple at a time}. Well I found this Truefitt and Hill sandalwood cologne {around $120 and $40 cheaper on Amazon, but I support the local guys when I can} so I buy it.. I get it home and tried it for the first time last night at dinner, AND WOW, I liked it, the waitress noticed it and my friends wife noticed it, its not strong at all very subtle but attractively different enough to be noticeable....

I like sandalwood scents, I have been using the Mistral sandalwood soaps for a while, it is expensive but lasts way longer than any soap I have ever tried, so in the end it is cheaper, 6 bars will last 3 years!!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009PLI9M6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A20GIX6KD7F026 you can buy single bars too for like $11...

So has anyone ever heard of this company Truefitt and Hill...

I hadn't before your post, but I'm guessing that there are a staggering number of cologne companies that I've never heard of...

I'm almost tempted to try that soap if you're saying 6 bars will last 3 years but I'm guessing they'd only last about 6 months for me. I go through soap/body wash very quickly :D

And no, I've not heard of the cologne you're talking about. For the last couple years I've used burberry brit or burberry touch.

Interesting. I dig Aqua di Gio. If you like Cool Water, I think you and I have similar preferences, and I might try some Truefitt and Hill, smell un-sniffed. Although I rarely wear cologne any more, truth be told.

When smelling different scents, it helps to smell coffee beans between samples. The smell of coffee does a pretty good job of resetting your nose hairs.

What are you using for bar soap now? Do yourself a favor and buy a single bar of that mistral sandalwood, its a larger bar and HEAVY, but it never gets soft, it lathers very well, smells great, washes better than any other I have tried and rinses off easy and invisible!!! for under $11 try it, you will never use another soap... I am a big guy and I take 2 showers a day, and that bar lasts for months {plural}, a bar of green or blue irish spring lasts me 2 weeks TOPS and after the first use its all soft and spongy... Try it you will be amazed, I have gotten a lot of people to use it and never has anyone said they didn't like it, I put it in my gift baskets for the holidays and it never fails at least 3-4 guys are calling me asking me where to buy it...

I take my hygienic care very seriously, its like a relaxing ritual, I am a straight razor, bar soap, comb guy, I don't like brushes, gel soaps, or disposable razors, don't even get me started on power tooth brushes and flavored colorful toothpastes...

My brother like the burberry line but to me its a little chemically smelling, like a cross between halston and joop...

I used to wear coolwater all the time, when I was younger it was one of my favorites, the sandalwood is more natural, like a " lawyer cowboy", lol... {Wild Hogs reference}

I don't really use bar soap very much. I did buy a ton of lever 2000 (168 bars?) a long time ago but I only use it for my butt. I use body wash and a loofah/net sponge thing for most of my body (not my face or hair). My showers are ~25 minutes on average because I do a lot of scrubbing. I tear up the loofahs pretty often from all the scrubbing and use a lot of body wash as well.

I'm not loyal to any particular type of body wash. I change it up relatively often. This year so far I've ordered 24 bottles of body wash. A half dozen or so different brands/scents.

Them sponges and loofahs harbor bacteria, so while you scrub away you are embedding bacteria into your skin, the liquid soap bottles also hold moisture and condensation {cold soap/hot shower} and grow bacteria too... My mother runs a geriatric care facility and she gave me a training video to watch with some scary facts, my wife manages a large part of our local childrens hospital {mostly radiology, but she has to be kept up on all procedures and processes} and years ago they stopped using sponges and switched to clothes that get changed out constantly {obvioulsy they change between patients but long term care used to leave a sponge in the shower like you would at home} BAD IDEA, all day that sponge is growing stuff and gross stuff... Now some people will saya bar of soap is not better, BUT IT IS, you wash up, lather it on your face cloth, rinse it off and put it on a wire rack, its your best bet considering the alternatives...

My wife still uses them damn plastic scunci sponge things, and I skeeve them things, she has to take them out of the shower and put them in her sink or I will grab it with a face cloth and throw it on the floor... May watching that scientific video got to me, seeing how the dead skin gets trapped in the lofahs and plastic sponges, then it rots, flys are attracted to it, and then you come back and rub it all over yourself again... gross me the FK out...

Phil I'm guessing this because of your allergies? From experience, myself and my cat, switching soaps so often could be doing more harm than good. I was jumping from product to product and found my allergies were actually worse from doing so. All these 'soaps' are mostly chemicals and the recipe is changed from brand to brand. Changing from one brand to another, recipe to recipe, ingredient to ingredient, will do more harm than good. I spoke to my Dr. and he told me to pick one and stick with it. Your skin needs time to adjust. I used Dr.Bronners for a while than started making my own soap with ingredients that I knew wouldn't cause a reaction. I'm back on the Bronner's now and have had no problems.
Look for soaps/washes with glycerin retention, essential oils (NOT fragrance oils). Avoid ingredients like, propylyne glycol, benzene, toluol, phenylmethane, methylbenzene, formaldehyde, Sodium Laurel Sulfate, phthalates, fragrance, and especially synthetic colors; like Fd %C number 4 and so on.

Oh, and hope your feeling better. You seemed in rough shape in the 'WAYDN' thread.

ImcLoud, Thanks for the tip on the Truefitt and Hill. I looked at the website and didn't see any U.S. retailers. Do you know of any?
If the soap lasts three years, does it lose the scent or foaming ability?

Yeah, I think about stuff like that too. The tag on the thing says to change it out every 3 months but I typically change them out once a month. I have thought about putting them outside of the shower to dry out and rotating them so I don't use the same one each day. I don't like washcloths because I don't think they are abrasive enough but when I do use a washcloth it is a one time deal. I only use my towels twice as well. I'll probably change them after a single use in the future when I get a more efficient washer and dryer but I use enough water and detergent as it is now.

These are the things I use:

I am feeling better today btw. Thanks!

Amazon seems to sell everything, locally the man shoppe sells it but he doesn't ship for some reason, I have bought stuff for friends there and shipped it for him but he won't do it himself {he had a dovo black turtle razor a friend of mine in TN wanted I had to buy it and ship it myself}...
heres the cologne on amazon Amazon.com: Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood Cologne: Health & Personal Care
and here is the best deal on the soap, they also sell 6 packs for $58 and single {and I think 12's but the 3's are cheapest per bar for some reason} http://www.amazon.com/Mistral-Soap-Sandalwood-Bamboo--Pack/dp/B00HFZ4OLY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1408728453&sr=8-3&keywords=mistral+sandalwood

The soap holds its scent for ever, my wife actually uses it on our master closets, she just peels back a tiny corner of the package at a time, but it always smells good... This is an "all natural" soap but the ingredient will read ingrediants I can not pronounce, it is a 100% vegatable oil soap, olive oil...
I have looked up the ingredients and they are all in high end good soaps, I love this site here Sodium Palmate Information | Sodium Palmate Guide | GoodGuide its good for looking up ingredients...

Them are the same things my wife uses, I hate them things, after watching that video, lol.... With a healthy person its not a huge issue, but with people who are ill and have weak immune systems they need to be careful not to do more harm than good...

You need to be careful with too much exfoliation too, scrubbing too much keeps the largest organ of your body {your skin} healing all the time, you take 2 showers a day and scratch the sh!t out of your self your body has that constant chore of healing, thats not good either... Unless you are working on a farm or sewer factory of some sort, you shouldn't be exposed to so much bacteria where you have to scrub yourself too harshly..... I use a normal face cloth, lather the soap in my hands pick up the towel and wash up...

My fiancee tells me the same thing. I know you two are correct but I just can't accept it. I know I'm damaging/drying out my skin with excessive scrubbing. I know I'm not filthy. I just don't feel clean with a simple lather/quick scrub. I can't help it :/

Anyway I'd like to try the soap one day :D

It's not that I feel dirty because of the soap...I just feel like I have to scrub a lot.
