Saw this one tonight. Bill Murray is Franklin Roosevelt, Laura Linney is his distant cousin, and one of his several probable, but not proven, mistresses. It's just before WW II and England feels desperate enough to have the King and his wife (the same chracters that were in The King's Speech) come to the USA in hopes of help against the Nazis. The first ever King visit comes to Hyde Park and FDR arranges for them to be fed hot dogs and be entertained by Indians. It this the act of a leader not in touch with reality or a very clever piece of theatre? What is the role of "Daisy", his current female friend?

This is an excellent movie if you like detail and historic intrigue, scenes in which Daisy meets Missy Lehand meets FDR. Much of it, however, is fairly flat, and not that entertaining. I liked it because it really captured a moment in history and a bunch of characters and because I am a history geek.

The production is excellent, the acting good and the script interesting. I don't know if all this really happened, but it's close enough to make a good night's history. If you're looking for action this probably is not your movie.
