Hooked up some different components tonight and didn't know the volume was almost turned completely up on start up. Holy crap... I almost blew my ears out. In any case has anyone ever done this? My speakers sound fine. Did I do any damage? It was only turned up for about 3-4 seconds before I ran across the room to turn it down... Wow!!:eek::eek:

You should be okay or have an obvious degradation of sound from the speakers.

If you had no distortion / clipping sounds and your speakers sound now as they did before then you should be 100% safe. I have set my power on level as FULL MUTE to avoid things like that to happen.

Not sure my Pre-amp has the volume limit at start up setting. I will have to look. My Parasound didn't have it. I don't think this Emotiva XSP-1 has it. Thanks guys.

****** Yep... The XSP-1 does have the volume limit feature. Just found it. Thanks.**********

The volume limit works good, but you might also look for a volume on setting that allows you to set the level for when it comes on. Usually you can set it to "last setting" or a specific level. I have mine at -35dB.
