I Have a BASS problem, I have a bose acoustimass module bass problem. I recently aquired a yamaha 5890 that i couldn't be happier with but it's not giving me the bass I need because a sub is not plugged into my receiver. so somebody help me and let me know if by adding a true subwoofer will it fix my problem

You should take your HTR and start a whole new system, and scrap the bose stuff. You could add a sub, but better mids and treble is more important then bass.

SVS speaker and sub system

Check out the review on the new SVS sytem. If you buy that, it will definately solve your bass problem. You have a good 5-channel speaker system and clean bass down to 20 Hz.

P.S. The bose "bass" module only plays down to 60 or 70 Hz.

There are tons of good subs - I would recommend you review the posts and sub reviews and simply pick a good sub. Don't pick one to compliment very poor speakers, pick on to compliment very GOOD speakers, then work towards getting those speakers. SVS, Velodyne, etc. There are a bunch of good sub companies.

Set your speakers to small - even then they will have issues unfortunately. The Bose cubes aren't designed to handle a good bit of the mid-range so that will always be gone until you get new speakers. This fact you will have to live with for the time being.
