HTR-5650 Video switching Problem

I have a Yamaha HTR-5650. I have the video from the DVD and PlayStation switched through the receiver on S video. This worked well until several months ago.

Occaasionally, the signal would not get to the TV properly. Swithching between modes or turning the receiver on-off seemed to fix it.

In the last few days, it has stopped working. For example when I switch to DVD, I can breifly see that the signal is coming to the TV but it is out sync and the color is wrong. The TV then says "unusable signal."

I checked that all the cables are firmly in place. I then disconnected the DVD player and conencted it directly to the TV. It displayed properly.

I have email yamaha and am waiting for an answer.

Any thing else I should try? Anybody else have this problem?

have you isolated the problem by hooking the DVD player and PS directly to the TV? It the signal is fine then its something in your receiver. If the signal is still bad...hook up your components to another TV to make sure they are ok (doubt this is the problem as both are not working.) i had the inputs of an old TV go bad and it sounds like a similar problem...long shot but could be that

Tested

When directly connected they work fine.

I disconnected the cable from the TV from the monitor out to the VCR out. Tha output still works. It appears that the regular monitor out is now defunct. Since I am out of warrantly, this will have to do.
