HTPC to Receiver - PCM Issue

I have an Onkyo SR508 and am starting to piece everything together (see sig). Today I hooked up my HTPC with HDMI for video and SPDIF optical out for audio (my video card doesn't support audio over HDMI apparently).

I booted up and everything was fine and after watching a movie for about 20 mins, I saw my receiver was flashing "HDMI" and "PCM" back and forth and the sound cut out. A few seconds later, it came back on with a solid "PCM" on the display.

I've googled this and found that it is probably a setting somewhere but can't figure out where. Can someone help guide me? Is this a setting in the receiver or the HTPC?

Thanks for any insight.

Has anyone seen this before? I've tried several settings on my HTPC sound properties with no resolution.

Hello
Do you have by chance the solution to your issue? I have the same, with a SR-TX608.
Thanks!
