Im looking for a HTIB set up. Ive been looking at the Klipsch HD500 and the Energy Take 5.1 or just the Energy Take 5 speakers and adding a sub. What would you guys recommend as far as a receiver for something like this. Also is there a better speaker choice out there? or would it be better to piece together a system?

As far as recievers, pick one that has the connections and features you want at a price you feel comfortable with. The major brands are usually pretty comparable in similar price ranges. Haven't kept up with all the changes in the last couple years, so I won't make a specific recommendation. I'm sure others will. I'd say there are definately better speaker choices out there, but they will likely be more expensive. Do you have a budget in mind? Also, how big is your room? If it is large, HTIB speakers may not give you enough to fill the room with sound. I'd definately look into getting a sub for HT. Are you using anything right now for HT? If you do some listening, you might find something you really like. If I had to start from scratch, I'd start with the best two speakers and sub I could afford and add the rest as funds become available. It all depends on your goal and how important sound is to you. The options you listed may very well satisfy your needs. There are a ton of options. Give us a little more info and we'll see where it goes.

I dont have anything right now. I have a 52" sony dlp that uses stock speakers. I am replacing this tv with a 52" samsung TOC LCD. I also plan on putting a 100" electric screen in the ceiling with a Epson 720 Projector for movies and such.

The basement is 12' x 25' with 7' ceilings that step up to 8' trays, 1 window and 1 door.

My buddy has the Klipsch HD300 along with the Yamaha RX-V665 and I think it sounds amazing as hell! Im looking for something like this but better if possible for about the same price as the speakers I listed above.

Honestly I dont know of any places around me where I can listen to speakers besides best buy.

You don't give a budget but in the price range of what you listed I'd look at a 5.0 set of Klipsch Quintet III (~$225) and a decent sub. A lot depends on the room size. The Energy Take Classics bookshelves are going to run out of volume well before the Quintets. The choice of subs is going to depend on room size to. The dinky subs that Klipsch bundles have about enough grunt for a small bedroom. I'd look at at least a Hsu STF-2.

However if you can afford to move up to larger bookshelf speakers I think it would be a better investment. Even if you had to start with a stereo pair or just left right and center and add surrounds speakers over time. I much prefer a speaker that crosses over to the subwoofer at 80hz rather than the 120hz of those that you listed or the Quintets that I suggested. In the long run I think you'll be happier. If you want a matched system and can swing $800-900 plus shipping I'd look at a SVSounds 5.1 system. It's really hard to beat them for bang for the buck. I'd just call and confirm which sub they suggest. You'll impress friends.

For receivers you can look on accessories for less for a refurbished Onkyo TX-SR606 for around $300 or 607 or $330. The next step up from there is the 707 but I couldn't find one at a decent price.

I would look at the Onkyo 606 or a refurbished Denon for a receiver.
