Hello, I searched the forum but couldnt find the topic related to my problem so I'm going to ask for advise from audioholic experts. I have 5.1 HT system driven by Yamaha RX-663. Now wife wants to karaoke on it :eek: ! I know HT systems arent meant for karaoke. So what do I need add/setup I can still watch DVDs and wife can karaoke (without killing my HT speakers :D)

In the mean while, I was looking at this system http://www.vnnmall.com/product_info.php?cPath=179&products_id=4698

With this karaoke system, I guess wife can karaoke without issue correct? Now, can I combine the 2 systems or its a no no ? Something like this:

Yamaha RX-663 ---> 5.1 HT system
BMB MA-3000KII (Mixing Amplifier) ---> new karaoke speakers
Yamaha RX-663 ---> BMB MA-3000KII (yes/no ?)

Thanks in advance for all the inputs.

Karaoke mic

Wow that system looks like a pro-audio DJ setup. I don't think I would want that type of gear in my living room.

They make these Karaoke Microphone systems that have a few thousand songs and play the background music and display the lyrics on the TV. You would just connect the Mic unit to the A/V inputs on the front of the receiver. I saw a demo at a big box store recently. I think they cost $2-300.

There looks to be a line out for sound and video on that massive mixer thing so you can forgo the speakers and plug it directly into an input on your receiver. As far as the rest of it is concerned... ya got me. Looks pretty hardcore for home use but if she's really into it, I've learned not to argue with the missus. Just file it away for a, "Why do I need an amp? Well, why did you need that massive karaoke setup?" discussion :) .

Not exactly sure what you meant.
