The first thing to try is to go direct from the DVD player output via component video to the projector.

I am assuming that you are coming out of the DVD player via component video into the A/V receiver... correct?

The other thing to check, is take a look at your owners manual for the BenQ and see if you have a setting in the menu to change the VGA input to look for component video instead of VGA video.

Page 22 of the manual shows how to connect VGA to component to your DVD player.

Page 29 discusses, briefly, the different 'applications' you can set for the proejctor. You do not want it in "PC" mode (presentation?). The manual isn't clear on what the names are on screen, but the bottom line is that you want it in 'VIDEO' mode.

You can try using one of the legs of the component cable, switching it over to composite video, then running composite video to the projector. Do this for all three cables - red, green, and blue.

FYI: The manual doesn't indicate it as 'automatic' it indicates that you have to pick what type of viewing you are doing. So, I would first double check the settings in the menu to make sure your 'application' is set properly.

Very few projectors I have used correctly switch between VGA-PC and VGA-Component video. Since you want VGA-Component, I would be sure to check that first.
