HSU VTF-3HO Subwoofer

For those of you out there that are waiting to see when the HSU VTF-3HO subwoofer starts shipping.

Per Dr. Hsu, "I would say we (HSU) would start to fulfill the back orders end of August/early September."

That will mean HSU will be able to fulfill new orders shortly after. It would be worth waiting if a subwoofer purchase is in your near future.

You should buy 4 of them....two for you, and two for Loserwife! :) But be careful. You wouldn't want to drown out those puny Cantons with all the great bass. You might need to buy the Big Dawg Cantons, too, just for symmetry....ya think?! ;)

GIVE TWO AWAY?

majorloser: "Honestly honey, Gene said it takes four subwoofer to properly equallize a rectangular room"

loserwife: "I'll give you EQUALLIZATION" (loud noises as the smack is laid down)

RIP majorloser, he tried...........:(

For the record, I am SO glad my wife doesn't post here. She'll occasionally follow a review thread but that's about it.

I love your user name. I also love that pic of the SR-71. A timeless design.

Thanks for the update on the '3HO shipping timeline.

I do wish Peter Marcks would say something about his discussions with Dr. Hsu about doing something that would benefit HSU purchasers. Some of us who have been anticipating the '3HO since CES 2005 would appreciate more than the cryptic info as to what Peter has in mind.

I spent a lot of time posting about the pre-order savings and then being accused of working for HSU.

I did what I did because I believe in the product. I will follow up with the good folks at Hsu :).

Update

Per Dr. Hsu, "The new woofers have landed in the Long Beach port. We will start shipping them out next week, but the wait list is very long. At least it has started."

Those of you who are at the top of the wait list should be contacted soon.

Let's keep our fingers crossed :)

EDIT: per HSU sales, "We are getting the new drivers by next week and then test them with the updated amps. So if all looks good, then we start shipping out orders in September, based on people's places in the pre-order list."

Major,

Do you know if and when there will be a 10" version? I am looking for a smaller cabinet.

Thanks

Last I read on the HSU forum from Peter Marcks was expected delivery sometime before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday.

There's quite a few people waiting for the VTF-2HO and the MBM-12. Both of these items seem to be put on hold till the VTF-3HO issues are totally worked out. It appears the final driver and amp are in their hands with shipments to soon follow.

I ALREADY HAVE SPACE RESERVED FOR TWO VTF-3HO's IN MY THEATER :)

EDIT: The HSU forum is starting to have posts from people on the VTF-3HO wait list who have been contacted by HSU.

Are these the new drivers to replace the ones that had problems? That seemed to take forever!

Per Dr. Hsu, "The new woofers have landed in the Long Beach port. We will start shipping them out next week, but the wait list is very long. At least it has started."
Does that mean "made in China and designed in the US?" (not that the Chinese make bad products)

Major, now that you're a mod, you need some more green chicklets. ;)

Like I told Rjbudz, next rank is Lt. Col. Loser.

Have to earn the silver oak leaf before the bird ;)

Besides the obvious things likes the side firing driver vs. bottom firing, 500 watt amp vs. 350 watt amp and the larger box, the VTF-3HO is supposed to have a higher output (hence HO) down to 16 hz vs. 18 hz for the VTF-3 Mk2.

The HSU Australian website give a better comparison:

Ok folks, we have an official Hsu brochure on the '3HO. Scroll down to the last post in the thread:

http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2212

Interesting quote, adding the ($100) Turbo, "... produces as much low-turbulance 16Hz bass as TWO 'VTF-3HO".

I hope Majorloser will post his impressions when he receives his pair of "3HO's.
