HSU VTF-3HO AM radio hum

I recently bought a HSU VTF-3HO subwoofer and I love it. However, it causes a high pitched hum on AM radio. The hum goes away only when the HSU is unplugged, turning it off is not sufficient. Any ideas on how to avoid this?

Get shielded cable to prevent hum, it seems your cable or speaker wire you are using to connect the sub is getting frequency interference from the am signal, is there a station close to you?

If you only hear the hum/whining noise when listening to AM radio, try something like one of these on the power cords for your subwoofer and receiver. Most any electronics store should carry something similar.
