I haven't heard either sub you mention, but I read an awful lot of articles comparing different subs, and after trading numerous e-mails with Dr. HSU, bought the HSU TN1220 Sub, along with their 500 watt separate power amp, and I am quite satisfied. In fact, I would recommend the HSU product.
The TN-1220 is a very musical sub, as I too listen about 90% for music. That said, many of the people on the HSU forum seem to be raving about the new STF series 3 subs, so if you want a cube, you might want to check it out.
BTW, running mine with Paradigm Studio Reference Series v.3 speakers and a B&K AVR-507 receiver. I think it sounds great.
