Can anybody tell me if these speakers are any good cause they are cheap. I heard some Ventriloquist's at Comp-USA and sounded good but were not the VT12's. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thank you

I think they are the same speakers, check out the lastest S&V and Sensible Sound for reviews.

I have this system with the HSU VTF-3 sub (12" self powered sub).

This system is great for casual music listening and as a small home theater system.

In comparison to my Polk Audio LSi9's, these speakers lack the midbass impact, high frequency response and sound quality of more expensive speakers ($800-$1500). For the price though they are a bargain and unlike other cheaper speakers I do not find myself "tolerating" them at ALL.

They have excellent sound quality and even do a decent job at soundstaging.

I have zero complaints with this system and I'm very happy with it, since I have been searching for a very long time for a GOOD system that could be adapted to a PC, as a surround sound system for gaming, MP3's and DVD movies. Games are amazing on this system as well as MP3's (especially jazz material like Paul Hardcastle, that utilizes the strengths of this system).

It also gets very loud without breaking up (unlike cheaper speakers I have heard). So like I said...no complaints at all.

Then again you get what you pay for, so if you are looking for SERIOUS music enjoyment you have to pay more to get more (midbass impact, smoother and more defined midrange, etc.). But in order to get significantly more, I'd say you have to spend at least 3 times the cost of this system paired with a good amp and sub.

The Ventriloquist system with the VTF-3 sub and an Onkyo TX-SR701 receiver ran me about $1700.

My Bryston 3B SST and Polk Audio LSi9's (2) cost me $3100, although I am still waiting on the amp so I can't say how much better they sound in comparison. I did briefly listen to them on a small amp (that was not rated for 4 ohm load), but it produced noticeable distortion. Even with amp distortion, the speakers sounded slightly better in terms of midrange and high frequency response, with the midbass reproduction and impact being SIGNIFICANTLY greater than the Ventriloquist. But then if you saw these speakers you would see why... Larger drivers are always going to have better impact on low frequency material in comparison to smaller drivers.
